Injury Rates Within Particular Industries Vary Depending on State

Everyone wants to avoid a serious workplace accident,  but there are some industries that are inherently more dangerous than others – particularly depending on what State you work in.
.
The three industries that experience the most work accidents each year, on average, are amusement parks and arcades, animal processing and slaughtering, and beverage manufacturing. However, this average is a nationwide number, and the frequency of injury within each industry depending on the State is quite large – and unusual.
.
For example, within animal slaughtering and processing, 8.3 of 100 workers in Oregon experienced a work injury that resulted in job transfer or restriction, while 0.7 of 100 experienced animal processing injuries in Louisiana. The average number of beverage manufacturing-related injuries in California was 3.5, while it was only 0.9 in Kentucky. State by State differences in safety standards, and strict enforcement of those standards, may account for the disparity in work injury frequency.
